The Corsair Vengeance K90 is a premium performance mechanical keyboard designed for superior Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) and Real Time Strategy (RTS) gaming. It features Cherry MX Red mechanical key switches which are of the best of the best key switches and coveted by gamers. They are defined by their low-operating force (45g) and smooth, linear key switch design so you can get quicker double and triple clicks… without the annoying click of a typist’s keyboard. 18 dedicated, customizable macro keys provide easy access to your most frequently used macros, presets and key combinations. The Corsair 90 is a mostly cherry switch keyboard. The G/F keys are regular along with the utility keys like insert and delete. The keys that are cherry switches feel fantastic, they are well raised, separated and feel great when pushed down. Each click has a satisfying consistent feel. I really don’t mind so much that the other keys aren’t cherry switches but at the same time, I don’t press them all that often. The lighting on the keys looks great against the brushed aluminum frame. However it is to be noted that the lighting is only so so on the generic keys and only one color – blue is present except for the G keys which are white. The keys glow underneath and reflect back giving not only the key letter/number itself a glow but the whole layout. Whats odd is that the F keys and utility keys don’t have the same aura nor intensity since they are dome keys.

The keyboard itself feels sturdy, has considerable heft and has a USB pass through, please note that I couldn’t use this keyboard in the bios like most USB keyboards. So always keep around a standard PS/2 keyboard just in case. The cable is monstrously thick and I have no doubt in my mind will hold up longer than any cable I own. Some of the extra features like the ability to control the lighting and music is nice as well as the roller for easy sound adjustment. The keyboard looks great sitting on my desk and if you like blue I think this would be a match made in heaven for those who love lights ! The palm rest is sturdy and textured covered with a rubberized sort of substance that helps keep my hands in a good position. It locks AND screws into place so it feels less likely to just snap off. The keyboard also adjust inclines with the little nubs on the back.

The software suit is sleek and looks nice although sometime un-intuitive. I feel extra clicks are necessary to save things and edit as well as navigate. I always enable Hardware playback, I am confused why its not on as a default so make sure you check it. You can have several different profiles and can swap between them with the M1/M2 ect keys. I think with time the software will mature since this is the first time corsair has really delved into the gaming keyboard market. I wish binding things were a bit easier and more straight forwards however most commands are all present. Generally I use my G keys to launch programs and swap to certain things inside of editing programs/gaming. Most of you functions can be found under advanced options. I appreciate the pictures on the playback option but I feel as though a bit of text would help relieve some of the confusion.

The Bad

1.The some keys located in a not comfortable position.

The shift key particularly shallow,this  makes a much different sound than the rest of the keys and feels like it goes down far less. you even can’t see or feel any obstruction.

2.Some useless functions.

Like the keyboard software is competent but the documentation is completely missing. Hitting the info and help buttons currently brings up the Corsair website and keyboard FAQ respectively, which are almost completely useless. The software itself is NOT intuitive and uses icons without labels or tool tips (or help file). That being said, the software does work, and after much searching you will discover  that per-application profiles CAN be set by right clicking the name of the profile and choosing the Assign Application.

3.Sometime the background light of some keys may not work correct.

Like each of the mechanical keys have their own dedicated bulb, with 3 levels of brightness. However maybe the #3 key didn’t light up for you.

4.You cannot program the G-keys to act as the arrow keys.

In fact there is a limited option to what you can program the function of these keys to do as a single key stroke. This is a software problem.

The Razer Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is definitely quite different from any standard keyboard I had previously used,the keys are much more tactile and make a significant noise when pressed, but quite honestly.

Razer BlackWidow Ultimate takes you full speed into combat with a full-fledged mechanical key infrastructure delivering crisp, tactile feedback with every actuation. Bringing an entirely different feel and faster keystroke actuation to the table, this revolutionary fully backlit gaming keyboard is rounded off by its additional macro keys and unlimited on-the-fly macro recording.

Keys are mounted on a metal plate. All the wires are glued twice, then tied to the inside for maximum security. Coming out the keyboard is a 1/4th inch braided cable containing the USB pass through, keyboard USB, audio pass through, and microphone pass through. The cable is plenty long so don’t be worried about reaching the back of your computer unless its in a different room. The keyboard is pretty heavy and has good traction. Even on my slippery desk the keyboard refuses to budge without considerable effort.

Overall, for the price that they charge for these, you will find no better mechanical keyboards. Sure there are better ones out there, but you will have a lot more for just a slight increase in capabilities.
